Singing Every Carol I Know

Music: Traditional Carols

Lyrics By: Gail H. Johnsen

About the Song
Lyrics

I know some people who start singing Christmas carols the month before the season actually begins. I have friends who say they sing Christmas carols all year long.

When I learned that there are literally hundreds of Christmas carols and many of them have been sung by multiple artists which expands the universe of Christmas carols, I began to see the humor in a goal oriented person who was so in love with Christmas carols that each they made it their task to sing everyone.

This was the inspiration for this comedy song! I strung together various public domain carols to create the music for this song.

I start the Christmas season

Singing carols sweet and slow.

But then I finding I'm belting

Every carol that I know.

I'm just a Christmas junky

And it's terrible I guess.

But I sing every carol to excess.

I must confess.

Just the joyous yuletide tunes

I can't suppress.

And someone writes another carol

By December 1st of the next year.

Yes, I really love the new ones

But the old ones are so fond and dear.

Choosing from hundreds of carols

And I'm hoping to sing everyone.

I won't stop until I've done it.

Fabulous and festive is my fun.

There are songs about Santa

His sleigh with reindeer who

Have noses a cherry red hew.

And of Grinches and garlands

And gifting green elves true (they do.)

Bring happiness and a honeybaked hullabaloo.

Songs of tree and songs of toys;

gifts for parents, girls, and boys.

Snow and stockings in a row;

couples kiss with mistletoe.

Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho,

So, ho,ho,ho ho.

See all  the shimmer and the show.

I'm euphoric and aglow.

Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho , ho,

Carols cascade in allegro.

I love my solstice solo.

When Happy New Year comes

The season's singing sadly goes.

My life returns to normal

With a nice upbeat tempo.

I try to think more clearly

But my mind is in a spin,

For the marvelous music to begin

And I know when:

Just eleven months until it starts again.
