Thanks for Nothing!

About the Song

Lyrics

Every Christmas is unique, especially when you have seven young children at home.

One year, our eight-year-old daughter, Karen, waited all through the holidays for gifts to arrive from her aunt and uncle.

Unfortunately, they never came.

Still, I felt that it was important for her to send a thank you note as she had been taught to do. We knew that the presents had been purchased and mailed even though nothing had  come yet.

Begrudgingly, she did as she was instructed, but in her own creative and hilarious way!

This song is dedicated to all my very funny children who know how to make me laugh!

Thanks for Nothing! Sheet Music

Sung by: Clara Kerksiek

I'm happy at Christmas.

Nervous a small bit;

Waiting for all the gifts

I am going to get.

I watch for the mail just ev'ry single day;

Will my present come?

Not one thing is there for me;

Don't you think that's dumb?

Christmas time is gone now;

Still no gift is here.

Oh, where are all my things?

To some kids I fear.

Mother said you sent it.

So it must be floating.

Lost in outer space.

Didn't get to my house;

It's gone without a trace.

Oh, sad Christmas!

Mother said to sent a note;

Say thanks for what I got.

But nothing has even come yet,

So I think that I should not.

Oh, sad Christmas!

Sad.

Maybe it was stolen,

And so here's what I think

I will write to you:

Thank you for nothing!

That's all I can say.

Thank you for nothing;

Might arrive some day.

I waited for nothing.

I know that you tried;

But I got nothing;

I really could have cried.

So just remember my address;

'Cuz I'll be waiting here.

Please let it come before next year.
